Oberlin Campus Pastor Job Description
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor or the Elder Chairman in the absence of the Senior Pastor
HOURS: Full-Time
Postion Overview
This position will be responsible for pastoring our Oberlin Campus and general ministry responsibilities in McCook. The person will live in Oberlin. We are looking for a disciple-maker who has a heart for people, and a church planting mentality. This person’s responsibilities will include but won’t be limited to: Leadership, Disciple Making, Connections, Pastoral Care, Preaching, and Community Engagement
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Work under the Senior Pastor to develop leadership skills and experience.
- Attend Staff and Board Meetings and other leadership meetings.
- Work with all Staff members to effectively implement integrated systems and programs at the campus.
- Provide leadership, vision, and coaching to the Core Team.
- Provide general oversight to the campus, which will be under your direction in tandem with the Senior Pastor.
- Execute the primary administrative duties of the campus.
Disciple Making
- Work under the Discipleship & Connections Pastor to implement our macro disciple-making strategy that grows disciples as we have defined them.
- Lead one or more disciple-making groups.
- Disciple one-on-one.
- Coach disciple-making leaders.
Connections
- Work under the Discipleship & Connections Pastor to implement and administer our macro connections strategy to have high levels of retention and low levels of loss throughout the process.
- Oversee the 1st Impressions and Usher Teams, who set the atmosphere for our family and capture guests’ information.
Pastoral Care
- Work under the Discipleship & Connections Pastor to implement and administer our macro-Pastoral care strategy.
- Coordinate with the Elders, Pastors, and other leaders in communicating about Pastoral care needs.
- Administer our benevolence support, providing wise and appropriate spiritual and physical support to those in need.
Preaching
- Work under the Senior Pastor and with the Pastoral team to develop sermon series and sermon messages.
- Work under the Senior Pastor to develop preaching skills and deliver messages.
- Preach approximately 50% of the Sundays.
Community Engagement
- Engage in evangelism in the community.
- Provide pastoral care to the community.
- Be present and visible in the community.
- Engage in the community through events, clubs, schools, as well as other areas.
Other duties as assigned.

- If married, there should be clear evidence of a healthy marriage. Your wife needs to be a believer, supportive of your ministry, and involved in the life of the church.
- If a parent, there should be clear evidence of your care, nurturing, and discipleship of your children. You should not sacrifice your family on the altar of a busy schedule.
- Personal finances should be managed properly, not being weighed down by debt or mismanagement.
- Your physical health should not limit or impede your ministry.
- Be a born-again disciple of Jesus, who is spiritually healthy as you consistently abide in and obey Him.
- Meet the qualifications of an Elder/Overseer as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
- Agree with our doctrinal statement
Preferred
- Formal bible education is preferred.
- A seminary degree is preferred.
- Pastoral experience is much preferred.
Accountability
- Reports directly to the Senior Pastor and is reviewed annually by the Senior Pastor and two Elders. In the Senior Pastor’s absence, report to the Elder Chairman.
